Our Social Mission

We believe that horses should be a shared joy, not a luxury. Whether through riding, Equine Facilitated Learning, mechanical horse sessions on "Hector," or stable-based activities, we provide an inclusive sanctuary where everyone belongs.

The Power of the Horse

Riding offers profound therapeutic benefits that go far beyond the saddle. The natural warmth, rhythm, and three-dimensional movement of the horse are transmitted directly to the rider, helping to:

  • Relax tight muscles and reduce physical tension.

  • Strengthen core stability and improve posture.

  • Enhance balance, coordination, and motor skills.

A Sanctuary for Growth

We provide a calm, supportive space where neurodivergent and disabled riders can connect with horses at their own pace. At Howden Community Stables, we don't view our horses as tools for sport; they are our sentient partners and our greatest teachers. By prioritising their happiness and well-being, we ensure they remain the steady, grounding presence our riders rely on.

Our Commitment to You

Above all, we value safety, sensory comfort, and the individual journey of every person who visits us. We are here to make horsemanship an accessible, low-pressure, and deeply rewarding experience for all.
